Serious props to Pearl & Evans

So I just want to say that as far as companies go Pearl & Evans have truly won me this year. I've always appreciated both companies and never had any ill will towards them or their products. But within the past few months both have stunned me with their extreme generosity. Here are the two tales -

So roughly 4 years ago I bought a newer Pearl Session Maple kit off CL. Came with a 24" bass,12" tom,16" floor tom, Pearl Firecracker snare and all top end Pearl Hardware, as well as Sabian AAX hats, ride,& crash. All said and done I paid $400. One of the bass drum spurs was missing the wing screw and the black plastic cap. Ordered the parts through GC and paid. Never got them and just got excuses. Made mention of this on the Pearl forum in November. One of their guys got in touch and sent me what I needed. Had the parts within the week he sent them. That to me is great customer service.

Some years back I repalced the heads on one of my kits with all new Evans. Clear G1's bottom and clear EC2's on top. Loved the older EC2's and figured I would outfit a kit with all new ones. I think I had gotten a bad batch. They didn't hold their tune, the ink on the head ( used for their tone control ) started badly flaking off ( to the point of it missing on certain sections ) Needless to say the heads went bye bye. Aside that though I've never had any issues with Evans and prefer some of their heads. Again I posted my experience on the Pearl forum, but after really strong praise for their ST heads,G2's,G1's,Hazy snare sides, they do make awesome heads. One of their reps got in touch and offered to send me new heads. I asked if a receipt was needed as proof, and nope they were willing to send anyway. So those should be here tomorrow.

It goes to show that even in this world people / companies do care about their product and doing right by the customer. Gives me some added faith that is isn't all about money with everyone. Again, I already appreciated and respected both companies. They have seriously added to that.

I found the other day that to my surprise Remo produce 16000 heads a day! I'm guessing Evans must be similar, and Aquarian must be making a hefty number too. Add on to that anything Ludwig make that's going to be a mental amount of heads PER DAY!!!! How many drummers are there out there? Somewhere in the world today there's a head being seated and tuned every 5 seconds! LOL

I contacted Audio Technical for a part of the mic clip on one of their mics from a Kit Pack. The rep just verified what I needed and sent it out - with another extra if needed. No need for payment - just great service!

That's great about Evans! I believe their formula for their heads is different than Remo. Their standard coated 1ply heads certainly sound different to me. And I dislike the Evans - sounds like a toy to me. So, it's Remo and Aquarian for me.

Called Roy at Aquarian once about the felt coming off on my SKI. He advised me to use contact cement to glue it back. That's it. No offer for a freebie. I suppose that's fine - but they sure as hell better have fixed the issue and UP'ed their QC. If it happens again, I might have to consider a switch to an EMAD (don't think their BD heads sound like a toy).

I had a great day! Instead of sleeping in and wasting the day, I got up at 8 and I had all my slacking done by noon!
