Selling Drums on Craigslist

Loading...

[QUOTE=johnnyringo;421372]

Anyway, I took the dw and cymbal, it may not be worth as much because of the chip, but it sounds fantastic. To make a long story short, I'm selling the dw to a guy tonight for $625, so I'm getting more than I would had made on the Rogers, plus I have a nice cymbal to use.

Young guy did nothing wrong. Ad said "or trade". He was serious.

Sometimes a face to face makes a difference, apparently it did here.

I said or trade for a vintage kit and originally I did tell him I didn't want the dw. Anyway, it all worked out, I have a USA made dw to sell and a nice cymbal.

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

Here is a more recent experience I had:

A seller had a listing that had no text in it, but did include a single, far away, dark pic of a vintage mint green painted over set with cymbals for $150...I thought I would check it out to see what the cymbals were at least...I messaged the seller and set up a time to meet...When I got there, she already had the kit sitting outside on the driveway...

The set was pretty much destroyed...There was a Decca MIJ snare that could have been saved, but, the rest was toast...Holes punctured through the shells, latex paint peeling, missing hardware, etc...

The hi hats were Sabian (model unknown) in fair condition, but, the no name crash/ride looked like it was used as a frisbee...

Needless to say, I told her that they were in rough shape and I was going to pass...She was quite content I didn`t take them because she felt that they were worth more...I was stunned!! I just said "Good luck", turned and drove away...

I looked on the site later that day to find she had increased the price to $300!! I wouldn`t have gave $30...

Too each their own, I guess!!

Cheers
