My favorite bass drum beater was given to me by my friend Bart Witrock--owner of Rockin' Robin in Houston. I don't know the manufacturer of this beater. It has a white hard plastic square beater with markings that make it look like a gambling die (from a pair of dice). The beater head pivots on a rod that makes this a self-aligning beater. The first hit on the batter head will reposition the beater head so that every hit after that will be a full-face splatt on the batter head. I have loved this little gem so much that I have looked for another one online for several years.
Last week, I saw that Gibralter makes a pivoting beater that is the same principal with a flat hard plastic face on one side and a curved hard felt face on the other side. This new beater cost me all of $12 delivered. I think that either of these two will work very well for my cocktail drum pedal. A full face splatt on the bottom head will give more balls to the drum sound.
