From OddBall

You have to use tails up for Premier, SONOR called heads.

LOL rotf. I'll try to remember that.

Robyn,

What a killer find. Premier drums from that era and earlier were top shelf. Very well made drums with arguably the best chrome plating in the business. Such a shame that someone would throw that out. Glad you have it.

Ok guys, i finally broke down and took the top head off, man was that an experience. The smell of the inside of that drum was so strong it was like opening a can of coffee for the first time. I really enjoyed that. As expected, the interior is dark wood with the grain going around the drum. I think it is very pretty inside. The screws are showing, indicating it to be a projector series, right?

Heres a photo, looks really nice inside, just makes me wonder if the head was ever off after purchased.

If you got 'that smell', then probably not :) What a find.... Great drums.

I might be wrong but I was under the impression that the African mahogany shells were only made for a short time at the start of the 70s so likely pre-Projector? Maybe from a 202 or 303 kit. I have a 202 kit from 72 with these shells and they are brilliant
