Hi,

Think you might find this strange snare drum interesting as well, so I'll share it with you:

Seller states that it was made by the predecessors of Yamaha, called Sakae.

Looking at Sakae's web site, it appears they've done some sort of production work for Yamaha starting in the '60s. Yamaha has been around a whole lot longer than that, although I don't know offhand exactly when they started making drums.

Yamaha first began selling drums branded as Yamaha in 1967.

Hey! That strainer is exactly like the one on my early/late Stewart! Looks like a half Pearl drum. Hmmmm

Yea, but look at the rims...die cast, like Gretsch...really nice!!! I'll bet after some bearing edge work, that drum will sing again!!
