Hi Bob,

Yep, definitely screwed on the cymabl purchase!

Drumming and playing in a band could have been a constructive and beneficial outlet for the young man who is being so destructive to himself and now others. What happened to him? We'll never know. We can only guess. Let's hope that the young person in question here finds the help they need.

The drugs are not the enemy as if we could wage a "war on drugs". The abuse of drugs like alcohol, crack and meth are simply symptoms of either neglect, abuse or other forms of mistreatment that are rampant in a seemingly "loveless" world.

The real problems lies in the heart. Care, concern for others, spending time with loved ones, friends and family (when possible) go a long way to keeping people, especially young people emotionally healthy. Of course that's not always possible with willful and rebellious personalities. Mister T

This is actually what we should expect. This is a 'fallen' world and as such is to be filled with pain and destruction and lies. That is the M.O. of the one who has been given dominion over this world. Why would we be shocked or amazed at this child or any other? I removed television out of my house many years ago because I understood what was slowly happening to the programming. We all have a choice in what we do, what we take in, and what we instill into our own families. We can perpetuate that which society deems acceptable or we can take a very different road. I have chosen to not look to what others blindly consume and instead look elsewhere. Without going into a Faith-based posting, all I can say is my path is my own. The things of the world do not impact me nor am I a part of them. We all carry our own pains when the evil strikes out at our loved ones, but that is to be expected. The key to coping is in how we deal with those storms. I draw upon the living waters for my strength.

That's real sad.

Somehow I suspect that Mom actually paid $1400 for the drums and cymbals, but that doesn't make much difference.

Hopefully one day we will be ready have a long overdue, calm, intelligent conversation about drugs.

I've got to agree 100%,, if this is for real, the cymbals are mostly certainly destroyed, and if the young lad that did this is in this mindset, this says it all doesn't!!! if only he had come to realize the powers that be, had given him not what he asked for but what he needed, the drumset, what a great and wonderful healer, of the heart and soul, but the hell of drug abuse led him to a different path,

Your drummers not much good is he!? What you need is someone that's as good as me. ! John Henry Bonham !!

Lets not go in that direction but i will say i disagree 100% the problem is believeing someone or something has dominion over you and then using that as a excuse, people need to take responsibility for thier actions, period! quit passing the blame to anywhere other than ourselves we are to blame and no one else... there are milllions of great people who help others and don't break the law use that as a example not some imaginary, being. and i mean no disrespect to anyone i just get mad when folks blame their troubles on something other than the real problem.

That's pretty much what I said..."We all have a choice in what we do, what we take in, and what we instill into our own families."

It's cool. You don't have to get mad. You follow your own path. I follow mine. No sweat. That's what I was saying ("I have chosen" and "my path is my own"). We all walk our own beat.

Unless I miss my guess, neither one of us is shocked or put off by this kiddos behavior. He did it to himself. Period. He put himself on his path and has allowed whatever influences to permeate within. It sounds very cold to others, but that's pretty much where I am.

Like many of my friends (and family members), I was there, too. It was hard and very dark. I help others that honestly want it, but I always stay guarded and very wary. Several members played the bag games, too. It's a strong pull and a very bad choice. We are who we are. Some manage to avoid it...others do not. It's always a choice.

I remember in the mid 70's being totally surrounded, immersed, innundated by drugs and alcohol. But,I was in a band-if I did drugs or drank I could not play at the level I deemed appropriate for a professional musician.I sort of skated over the whole thing.NOTHING could have been worse, even in the dumbest drunken dive, than playing badly....and there are no regrets. Thanks for the personal input,Mcjnic.VDF has replaced my TV for entertainment.
