Anyone try these?

Sabian Blend Custom Snare Wire Hybrid 20 Strand

"Sabian was built on the sound produced by a right blend of metals and now they offer some special metal blends tweaked for great snare drum sound. These Blend Custom Snare Wires offer a perfect mix of metals for a natural EQ performance. These snare wires feature six strands of bronze formula wires, developed specifically for snare applications, on the outside produce increased attack. While eight strands of high-carbon steel wires in the center delivers fatter tone."

I didn't know about them either, they sound very interesting, also there's 2 different types. I think I'm liking sharp sounding ones but I wonder how good the tone is? I wonder what bronze sounds like, could it be dryish with good tone? Hmmmm It would be great to hear a few revues from people that have tried them.

Like my two friends ahead of me, I never even knew such wires existed. Who knows? Maybe they're great.Whatever adds to the sound is appreciated.

PHOSPHOR BRONZE SNARE WIRE

An all new metal blend created and optimized for a tight sound.

PHOSPHOR BRONZE:

• Secret bronze formula developed specifically for snare applications

• An especially tight wind delivers additional snare-to-drum head contact

• Both the metal and the wind are designed to maximize attack

Ideal for deep and/or wood snares where the added attack delivered with this blend can augment the natural performance of more open, less focused drum shells.

Complete marketing BS. :2Cents:

If you really think that the type of metal that snare wires are made from make a sonic difference that you can actually hear, MIT wants to talk to you. :p

Now, gut snares, yes. Those make a different sound, as they should.

They've had them in my local drumshop for the last year or so. So far I havent strayed from Puresound Custom 20s as they're a safe/reliable/consistent choice but if i hear some good things about the Sabians I might give them a go next time

Think I'd be concerned about the longevity involving two different metals, you'd have to expect some stretch to take place with the bronze first... which would render them no longer adjustable...

Cheers
