Russian (?) Marching drum

Loading...

Long time swedish lurker, first time poster on this wonderful forum.

I recently got my hands on a (by the seller identified) russian marching snare drum, and it would be really cool to know more about it!

These pictures were supplied by the seller. I will try to take a few more and post them here when I get home from work.

It's really interesting, because the "snare wires" are really just 5 sets of long springs that are controlled with the black knobs on the side of the shell!

The shell also seems to be made out of some really cheap metal, and not very caringly I might add Cool Dude

Here are some more pictures of the drum:

It all seems very cheap and almost haphazardly put together, but I quite like the vibe :D

Wow! That's amazing! So not Russian, but still Soviet made :)

Having inspected the case a bit more carefully I would say the date is 4 - 83, but sadly, the writing is faded and the badge is sllghtly torn so it's hard to tell...

Thank you so much for this information!

This is a soviet marching snare from Kiev (the capital of Ukraine).

It was produced by Factory Of Wind Instruments (later a private company ORPHEUS). This plant was also part of UKRMUSPROM (Ukrainian Musical Production).

The snare bag is indeed from Gorlovka (placed in Donbass), but the LIRA factory in recent years produced a wood furniture, now it closed due to civil war.

Cheers,

George.
