I just had a thought. I really don't mind all so much all the newbs that hit the forum for pricing information, but how about we demand that they post pictures of the item before we give them the information on it's value, or where to find said info. I mean if the fellow whines about not having the means to get a picture... fine. But other than that, pictures is all we have of many configurations and oddball 'stuff'. And in my experience, this is where one goes to find the oddballs... (some of us, well me for sure, should check the mirror for the definition of the term 'oddball')
RUN FOR THE HILLS! (I've got an idea...) Last viewed: 19 hours ago
I make it a habit to always ask for pix. Maybe one in ten seeking advice bothers to post photos. I'm with you, how can anyone give an accurate estimate of value based on a verbal description. Too many factors to consider when assigning value to a drum kit.

Better yet, if we're going to condone this hit and run posting behavior for users who just want pricing info, lets have a dedicated section for it.
The rules for that section should also state "pictures required".
Due to the lack of pictures and the real fact we have no idea what you are selling, or even asking about selling... the value of said item is "0".

How about, whomever is the "First Responder", requests pics, before any info is offered. How can you?

This is the best response for this type of post. lol
You got me! I thought I was about to read a killer Iron Maiden thread..............Falling Do
I'm too new to the scene to give much advice on pricing, but I agree that there should be pictures. That said, vBulletin forums are not familiar to some, and they don't know how to manage attachments and using the picture tool with a URL doesn't always work. I think that's a good idea posted above that there be a section devoted to appraisals and note that pictures are required.

I think they should all be charged a minimum fee where all the monies would be deposited in favor of the VDF. Once the fee is charged the post is made available for the rest of us to help with the appraisal. (pixs should be mandatory)

A while back I brought up this very subject and was boo'd for bringing it up.
In the real world Appraisers charge for the service. Maybe this place should do the same. A separate forum just for appraisals where posters have to pay a fee before posting. It will help keep posters honest and help offset operating costs for VDF.
