R.S. Williams snare drum.

This 15 x 6 snaredrum was hanging from the rafters of a junkshop in Toronto. That's where it was likely made, around 1920, although Williams was a jobber as well as a manufacturer. I at first thought the shell was nickel on brass but I now think it is tin on brass. The hoops are maple,with what appears to be Rosewood veneer on the facing side The snare control is by a simple threaded rod and the original wirewound cloth snares(12) are in perfect shape.

It does have really good fleshhoops but the calfskin heads were trashed and I haven't had time to fix them.

thanks; i didn't really know what i had for a while. it was absolutely filthy.-kind of cool that it is a Toronto drum. i hope to have heads on it soon.
