Royal Star “Hoshino” w/MIJ snare

Found this at Goodwill for $18. It was in pretty rough shape, so I replaced the hoops (with Slingerland style reproduction hoops), the tension rods, and the heads. I also added a new Gibraltar tom mount, INDE tom mount clip (LOVE ‘em!) and Gibraltar cymbal “L” arm to the original “L” arm mount. The are 3 re rings on the kick, and re rings on the toms. The 13” tom has eight lugs per side instead of 6. These sound incredible! The snare ($4 at Goodwill on another day) I plan on recovering in chrome and adding more lugs, making it an eight lug snare. It also will be getting Slingerland reproduction hoops, new snare wires, a new strainer/butt, and new tension rods. It’s a decent mahogany shell with re rings. All are round and, IMO, worth the work. Just can’t decide if I want to rewrap the toms and kick...
