Royal snare drum price?

Loading...

Hey guys, I found a Royal snare drum for sale and it looks in good condition. Could you please tell me what would be a fair price to pay?

Here are some pics:

Wow! That looks like a sweet snare!

But I'll leave it up to the experts on the forum to give you the details.

We have a good article on them in the Drum Guide.

They look to be fine pieces of machinery.

Actually they are nice sounding snares of outstanding quality.

Though not many people know them, they are highly appreciated for their attack, volume, sensitivity and articulation by that small group that do know them, here in the Netherlands. Usually you will find them in concert or marching band settings. And ones owned they hardly change owner.

Prices here range from 125 - 225 euro (160-300 US dollar).

If I had to compare them with another snare I would say their characteristics get very close to Premier 2000 snares, with a slightly different/ more traditional snare sound because of the wires.

Only downside is the availability of wires and heads. For the latter I am not sure whether they are conventional 14 inch or the old fashioned 361mm ones. But from the pictures the heads do look pretty new, so I guess it will be 14inch then.

Asking price looks a little bit high, but for sure I would try a bid, if I were you.

Good luck. Wouter
