Long time, no vintage snare, but picked this up recently for around $20.
1t's 14x4, and apparently its from the 60's, but I know nothing else about it.
It's a good-looking shell, and the hoops are free of rust. Thing is, it doesn't have a throw off! The parts look old, so it's not is if a throw off has been removed - does anyone know anything? I've included a couple of pics, but my camera is no good for close-ups. it has slotted tesion bolts, and the grip type that hook onto the hoops not pass through them. Also, there appears to be a lug missing, as there's a larger gap where one should be and a hole. Is this worth restoring, or should I salvage the shell to make useable drum? I'd appreciate very much any help/suggestions etc.
