"Lucky" is an understatement...

What a beautiful piece of history you have there..

Are yours those with "Metal" lug inserts & springs in the timber??

Cheers

John

the wooden bass drum pedal you mention, may be original

Here is the pedal that came with the Bomber kit.

Says "Slingerland USA" on the foot board.

Anyone know what model this is?

My big question: My kit has tacked heads on the toms

while pics I see on here are all tuned bottoms. Is mine older

or a cheaper model?

I've never seen or heard those drums in person, but I get the impression that the lack of metal in the construction would make for some amazing sounding instruments.

Am I wrong?

I have not taken any lugs off but they seem to have a

metal insert inside that the rod screws into.

Here is picture of the wood pedal.

The sound is big and round and warm although

the tacked toms give a slightly muffled sound.

the 13" tom and snare both resonate nicely,

14&16 not so much. I am still tinkering with the tuning.

Calf heads are a challenge to get tuned just right but I love the great big sound.
