Rogers wmp holiday kit

THE KIT HAS NOW BEEN SOLD

& THIS THREAD CLOSED

Thanks to all who expressed an interest and to all those who added their comments

I am selling a two owner, Rogers Holiday Kit ... a Cozy Cole Constellation, thanks Dan

It was my brother’s, who bought it second hand from the one and only previous owner, then played it for around six months before losing interest and packing it away. It’s been in storage for at least 30 years, which in part accounts for it’s outstanding condition. The kit has been cleaned and given a light service.

It’s a 14x22, 16x16, 9x13 with a factory matched powertone 5x14 snare. All original with WMP wrap, no peeling, splits or cracks, no drilled holes, no cracked lugs, no modifications, no rust, all the paper tags are complete, and nothing is missing. The kit hasn’t been bastardised in any way at all. The shells are not misshapen, there is no delamination, all the joints are exactly as they should and all the chrome is in outstanding condition, with no pitting, tarnishing or blooming. There is a very small mark on the mounted tom (see photos) and some very light yellowing as you would expect. Also the bottom skin on the snare will need replacing. Overall the kit is close to immaculate.

I am asking £1950 GBP or the equivalent Euros, Dollars, Yen.

I am re-photographing the whole kit and will be updating the dropbox link as and when...just added the Floor Tom, found there to be three of the small tension rod washers missing, otherwise the drum is 100% AOK.

Have now added the mounted tom.... one chromed domed bolt for the dampener plate missing (see photo in dropbox)and a mark on the wrap (photographed but nor easily seen) maybe from the snare rubbing on it. Apart from that the drum is excellent.

Powertone now added, in absolutely stunning condition....

Now is a good time if you have a photo request.

I wonder if you'd garner more interest if you took photos of the kit setup with all the hardware and sold both lots as one full set. It'd be a shame to separate those stands from the set as both are in great condition. I'm no expert, but I have a feeling more Rogers folks would seriously consider purchasing a complete set in this condition with nothing else needed but cymbals.

Vintage kits:
1969 Rogers Holiday - black diamond pearl (20/16/13/12)
196x Star (Lyra/Majestic) - blue sparkle pearl (22/14/13) Restoration Project
1987 Pearl KC-3500 - jet black (22/16/13/12)
Not-so-vintage kits:
2007 Hart Dynamics Professional 6.4 e-kit / Roland TDW-20
Snares:
60s Gretsch 5x14 maple WMP / 68 Ludwig 5x14 Supraphonic / 93 Pearl 3x14 Free Floating brass piccolo / 60s Star (Lyra) 5x14 luan blue sparkle pearl / 87 Pearl 6.5x14 steel

Toby - you need to adjust your price downward if you want to garner serious interest from a US buyer. At $2400. US plus another $300 US for shipping the kit is priced at over $2700. for an American buyer. The identical kit in similar condition can be had here for $1700 to $2000 plus whatever lower 48 shipping is. For example...

https://reverb.com/item/694299-rogers-holiday-dayton-era-13-16-22-3pc-kit-white-marine-pearl-late-60s

Flexibility about your price will help generate some serious US interest.

Beautiful set of drums. Best of luck with your sale.

John

Too many great drums to list here!

John ... appreciate all your comments, thanks.

The Reverb link you posted, $1,799 ... is for three drums only and with wmp powertone snares for $695 ( with cracked lugs, ripped tags etc ... http://www.drumfarm.com/rh32370wmp548.JPG ) then I'm not so sure that my asking price is that far out of line, especially when you consider it's near immaculate condition.... please take a look at the NEW photos.

I do take your point about shipping.

I will have to express a dissenting opinion on the value, John. I think the price is fair and the shipping may well be fair too. The price would be more secure if the set happened to be a Celebrity model in the basic 22, 13, 16 set-up where it would have knobby mounts instead of disappearing hex cymbal rods. That is simply because of the association of Buddy Rich with the Celebrity model and the slightly more convenient (if not as stable) cymbal supporting hardware provided with a Celebrity. But as pointed out by Toby, we are talking about a 4-piece set-up, not three-piece, and the condition is in fact much better than the one on the Reverb advert. The left side tom of the one in the Reverb advert is not the correct drum for that set-up. You will note in the attached photo, no script or tone control is in view.

Two years forward may have a debatable price impact, but lately prices for the best kits do seem to be a bit on the rise.

If you are a fan of Rogers drums, and those finished in WMP in particular, the set offered is a beauty in my opinion.

John is correct, however, that the price may have to come down to attract a US buyer at this time while the economy remains tenuous.

Dan, you know Rogers stuff way better than I do, so I bow to your expertise. I was trying to help the guy out. It's a gorgeous kit I just thought it was a bit over priced for the US market. It's actually the shipping that puts it over the top for US guys - although $300 shipping from Europe is in itself a fair price.
