Rogers Swivomatic pedal expert help?

I've been restoring a couple of Swivo one piece footboard pedals. I really like those rascals! An interesting design, fun to work on.

There's a guy selling a 'first generation' Swivo on ebay. He's asking quite a bit of dough, and good luck to him. But he seems to be knowledgable. We've corresponded a bit, about one mystery in particular.

Mine has all the features he describes, e.g. the pedal post hole that goes all the way through, machined parts, etc. But I found something on mine that neither of us know.

First, on the base piece, under the chrome swivel/heel connecter part, mine is stamped "2," and there are three small indentations. They aren't holes, but little 'divots.' His is stamped "1."

And on mine but not his, there is a stud threaded into the center hole in lieu of a threaded collar lug. It doesn't secure the piece, but sits in the 'channel' of the swivel

It's threaded, so I can back it out and put in the lug. But is has the factory installed look -- it's a unique piece.

I'm hoping pictures will explain what I'm trying to.

So... calling on the collective wisdom of the VDF. I'll bet someone is interested in weird little facts too!!

Running changes are not uncommon for a lot of products. For most of those changes, there is little or no need to mention them in the original product information pages that came with the items. Sometimes unexplained little divots or holes are nothing more than positioning markers for the machinery or jigs being used in the manufacturing process. Specific to your question about the pedal in question, I have no idea about those little divots and the numbers 1 and 2.

No matter how far you push the envelope, it is still stationery.

The general information is helpful. It may explain the whole thing, really. The stamped numbers may represent a line or station in the process, too.

Mine is stamped "2" too. The indentations are not so clear as yours. Cheers.
