Asked this on another forum and got good feedback, but figured I'd get a few more opinions here. I'm thinking of getting a third snare that can do it all for gigging that has a fairly dependable strainer and want to stay vintage. The Superten caught my attention because of the steel + ten lug thing (I already have a COB Premier and an old Sonor piccolo so it should at least differ from those) and Rogers snares are always dependable hardware-wise. I know a lot of it is heads, tuning and the player but how would a Superten generally compare to something like a Sling Sound King or a Gretsch 4160? I love the sound of both of those, but the Zoomatic and Lightning have both given me trouble on gigs. I'd trust a Rogers to hold up to bumping and bruising and be low maintenance.

It'd be mostly for 60s funk/soul-type stuff and some rock.
