From that high serial number, your Big R Dynasonic is probably a 1979, just before Rogers dropped the serial numbers on Dynas in 1980. Big R Dyna's in fair condition are routinely selling online in the $150 - $200 range. Affecting the value of all Dyna's is the presence or absence of the correct snare frame. Unfortunately, your Dyna does not have the correct size/style snare frame. The frame pictured on your drum appears to be a 15" frame from a 1960's parade Dynasonic.

Regarding 15" snare, it could be called Dyna Supersensitive??Excited LOL

I respectfully disagree with the snare frame assessment. That is actually the correct size frame, but for a much earlier and more valuable 60's/early 70's era snare drum. The snare wires themselves look decent and it even has 3 of its plastic frame cushions that prevent noise when the frame is down and snares disengaged from the head. Of course, you'll have to improvise or bear upon a forum member for a fourth.

Note that the snares themselves fit the snare side head, as designed, and extend only far enough to be supported by the lower hoop seats when disengaged. So it will work, and that frame alone increases the value of the drum because you could easily get $150 just for the frame and snares.

Dan, thanks for the information. Like I said, the person I purchased it from said that he had the drum since the mid 70's. He purchased it from his drum teacher. Prior to me cleaning the drum, it look like it hadn't been touch since the 70's. The snare frame fits like Dan says. That being said, it's in great working condition. This drum looks and sounds amazing. If the snare frame is original to the drum, then what's the value? Thanks again for all the feedback.

The snare frame and that drum got married long after they left the factory.

Dan: Thanks for correcting that the frame is actually the right size. I thought it was overhanging the bearing edge way too much to be a 14" frame based upon this photo below, but it must be the perspective of the photo.

I stand corrected, the frame does over hang the edge. The second picture I posted does show that it is hang over the edge. Sorry about the confusion. Thanks again for the detail.
