Restoring a late 60' Holiday and need some rims. Used rogers rims are a rare commodity and if you find some they want more than gold and bad condition. So Looking to buy some new one. Question is 1.6 mm or 2.3 mm triple flanges? Heard the 1.6 mm has better overtone ??
What you think? And what brand offer the best quality ?
I have bought some rims in the past, nice and shiny only to realize the hole for the tension rod were to large and deformed rather than nice and oval.
You might want to check out Pearl fat tone 1.6mm hoops.
Rigidity of die cast ,but with less mass overall.
I'd go 1.6 of your choices.
And check out Gibraltar ones. Generic Chinese style but decent quality and chrome (the one's I've bought anyway).
I used Pearl "power hoops" on my D20 rack tom and although they are not the same exact shape as the original Yamaha ones, they look and work well.

I have some 12” COS rims from 1958. They are pretty flat, mostly in round with one flattish section. They have some rust and pitting, and one section where the chrome gives way to bare steel (or so it seems).
Will these help you out at all?

do not buy the new Rogers rims expecting an identical profile as the old ones. They aren't.
Why not re-chrome the originals? There’s still a few places around doing it, despite how deadly it is.
