Not sure about the repair, but Novus works great on Red Onyx from what I'm seeing on mine so far. How long are your cracks? I wonder if a two part epoxy would help to bond the crack back together and prevent it from spreading? I think Loctite is the brand I've used before for other repairs and it is some amazingly strong stuff.It comes in a nice injector tube and is easy to get into small crevices like you have. It dries kind of yellowy clear and you may be able to get creative with some model paint to fill in the red and black on top of the repair. Let us know what you decide.

Jerry - Seam sealer for the cracks! I used it to repair some cracks on a Black Galaxy wrap floor tom. The repair is virtually invisible! Even close up I have to look for where the repair was done. See photos:

Counter-top seam sealers come in different colors. You want to match the red background so 937 primary red will be a perfect choice. Apply it with a fresh (clean) putty knife that has a nice sharp edge with no nicks. Apply a bead of the sealer to the end of the putty knife and holding it at a 45 degree angle to the work surface wipe it on over the cracks. Purchase some cleaning solvent at the same time as the sealer. After you apply the sealer just wipe it down with a soft cloth with a little cleaning solvent on it. The splits in the wrap will disappear right before your eyes. Works better on thin cracks. Wide cracks will show more of where the repair is, but thin ones... good as gone.

Great info John. One more question; should I glue down any area where the wrap is loose before using the sealer? If so, what glues would be best? Howw about super glue? Thanks again for the advice. jerry.

do you think the seam filler would repair small gouges in a vintage gold glitter wrap that i'm trying to salvage? i'm removing a ton of paint off an old radio king tom and am going to have to put in some love to save it ... i don't think novus will alone will save it and am also thinking i may have to do some sort of top coat...any suggestions? thanks!!

The seam sealer fix works best cosmetically on 'basic color' wraps. ie; wraps with red, or black backgrounds. The sealers come in an assortment of colors so you 'may' be able to find a good match. If not, whatever color you choose, unless it's real close to the existing background color, will show where the repair was done. How close you can match the color determines if the sealer is a good choice for the repair. You can use any good quality clear spray sealer for the top coat on the shells.
