I was thinking that the glacial acid solution would be the same molarity as apple cider vinegar, so it should be safe. Of course, any unproven method should be tried on a scrap piece first. Don't go dunking your black beauty in there.

Would the sugar do any permanent damage? Our just make a sticky mess? I'm fairly certain that coke will not dissolve a nail (or a tooth).

About 98% completed. Still need to insert the hoop inlay into the bass batter hoop and I need to paint both of 'em. Could also polish up the kit again ... maybe not.It turned out very nice. I tapped on the toms ... wow. That 13 and 16 absolutely blew me away. They have a deep and very warm sound with sustain to spare. I was a little taken aback. I seriously did not expect them to sound as sweet as they do. I'll set them up and play 'em for a while. Should be fun.

Kit looks great!......BUT!

You need "Rogers USA" decals front AND back on the BD heads.......like they came out of the factory with!

I tried the cola on the hardware, and it worked great. All the surface rust just wiped off with a rag after a 24 hour soak. I did some research, and on paper cola should work better than apple cider vinegar. The acid in either is what dissolves the rust. Coke contains phosphoric acid (which is commonly used to remove rust) and has a ph of 2.5. Cider vinegar has a ph of 4 to 5, so is much less acidic. I'm going to look into buying some phosphoric acid and figuring out the right mixture.

Sorry to change the subject. Back to the real thread, your kit looks great!
