Okay, I have been waiting to post this topic up for a while. Finally got my brother to take some high quality pictures.

We know it is standard for a DynaSonic to have a "D" stamp on the throw-off but I have only recently come across a "P" stamped Powertone throw-off. Has anyone ever seen or handled a PowerTone with a throw-off with a "P" stamped on it?

The "P" strainer is off a Cleveland wood PowerTone with a ROUND clock-face throw-off (with black ink), beavertail lugs and a serial number of 3083. From everything I can tell (and from the word of the previous owner) this is the original hardware.

The pictures show my "P" stamped throw-off from the PowerTone next to a "D" stamped throw-off from a DynaSonic. Both are the same vintage. We can see that the Dyna throw has the slightly more exagerated "notch" and the "P" doesn't. (See Rogers book by Rob Cook page 125 second edition).

Let me note that I have looked at about 20 DynaSonic snares to check if any have a stamp that resembles the stamp on this Powertone and I can't find one. No DynaSonic stamp even comes close.

Has anyone else seen one?? Thanks!!
