Rogers project

Loading...

Refubished Rogers kit from the Dayton Ohio era. I bought these as a basket case to fix up to play. There are several non original parts. I just finished the wrap yesterday. It came from the old Blaemire operation. The floor tom is the infamous fomerly pink pearl 14 dia x 16 deep drum that has been discussed on another thread. The snare is a keystone supra with a worldmax black brass shell. I call it the "black bastard". Hope you like 'em.

The floor tom is 14" wide by 16" deep? Way cool. Black is really cool. I am finishing up a Slingy kit in piano black lacquer. Will post pics when they are finished.

Excellent job...you work FAST, no ?Mind Blowi

Looks killer...bet she sounds fantastic, too.

So you left off the swivo rack tom mount....just out of curiosity...did you fill the holes in the shell, or just cover 'em with the wrap ?

Is that an Istanbul ride you have there ? [/COLOR]

The reason I seem to work fast is that when I posted about the floor tom I had these drums on my mind, because my friend was coming over Sat AM to help me re wrap. (Read: He would do the wrap while I handed him tools and re-. assembled the drums.)

As for the sound. Fantastic! I've been playing them all day.

And for the swivo mounts. The hex bar and ball still support the rack, but off a cymbal stand. Couldn't get it where I wanted with it on the BD. I just covered the holes with the wrap. Who knows, I might find a cymbal holder.

Yes thats an Istanbul. Special Edition jazz ride. Agop. I've kind of settled on a Noble and Cooley 7x14 SS as the snare for this kit for now.

atomicmorganic!...

Gotta say that the single tension look of the Tower series Rogers drums look absolutely GREAT in BLACK!!! Very nice choice for the wrap! ( and this from a devout WMP man! ) The 14X16 floor tom just totally completes the "cool" factor of this set... outstanding. SUPER nice job on the refurb!!

Thanks Tommy. 2 reasons for the black.

1. I got the wrap from a guy who has all the old Blaemire wrap. Black was the cheapest and he was willing to trade for it.

2. The guy who helped me had owned a tower kit that was factory black with silver sparkle inlays on the BD.

3. The guy with the wrap was willing to throw in some silver sparkle as well so there you have it. I'm so glad that it worked out this way because I LOVE the way they look right now!
