dirtydrums and BBK!
Here are a couple of my Cleveland era Rogers in "Bop" sizes. I play this kit instead of my Buddy Rich Celebrity's when playing smaller venues and/or straight ahead, or with the smooth jazz quartet I work with, which is where these shots were taken. That said... factory placed mounts on my 14x18. Rack tom dead center, ride Knobby down the side. I use a "hoop mount" for the splash as I didn't want to add any holes to that pristine bass drum!

BBK!...
Interesting placement of that mount.. meaning .. "usually" they are installed a little more forward towards the middle of the shell, behind the Rogers script. BUT!... from what I have seen over many years with Rogers, is that they didn't always do things the exact same way over and over with tom mounts seemingly the most random, within reason of course. I have seen many sets with the tom mount in the EXACT same spot set to set, but with the 14x18 bass drum, it seems to be a bit of a gray area. I will say that I have seen more than a few with the tom mount top/center more so than the way Powertone's set is configured, especially with the 14X18 bass drum. But who knows? I "assumed".. ( and not a word I particularly like ) .. mine was factory as the drum did come set up that way, as well as with the ride cymbal Knobby, and it does match others I have seen over the years. As to who determined where the mount would go, I don't know. The mount on the picture that you showed does seem a little further back than most... but again, who really knows?! A bit of a conundrum!

I have seen the mounts both ways - in the center and off to the side. Yours is factory original. I would not add a cymbal mount to your bass drum. Any mods would hurt the value dramatically.
Holy grail Yes Sir
