Rogers Mojave Red

Loading...

Hi all

Back again with some Rogers questions and to ask for some input. There is a Rogers set for sale on Reverb which is quite nice, except for the "scoring" lines, cracks?? in two of the toms and one of the floor toms. They haven't gone thru to the shell, but are present. The seller lists these as a 1977 Rogers set for $1700. These are the large drums, 24/12/13/14/16/18 with the 14" Rogers chrome snare, all Rogers hardware, Rogers boom cymbal stands, hi hat stand, plus cases for all except the snare and stands. Seems like a real nice deal. Questions:

Has anyone witnessed this "scoring/cracking" on Rogers drums? No pieces have cracked off, and none have lifted.

Is this Cortex?

Can it be sealed to slow anymore cracking? Or is that not possible..

Or would these be re-wrap candidates, and if so, how impossible would it be to locate this "Mojave Red"??

Does $1700.00 seem too much??

S/N's are mostly 747xxx to 751xxx

Thanks for any input!!

Mojave red is lacquer finish, not a wrap. Those should have natural wood interiors, not grey trunk paint. They should be 5-ply with reinforcing rings if they are '77's. It's pretty rare finish I think, so I'd leave them as is and consider it "character".

Sounds like it could be a fair deal for everything that's included. 24BD are pretty rare too.

Thank you very much!! That's very good information. They do have natural wood interiors, that was going to be another of my questions (I forgot to ask....). I assumed all Rogers had the gray or gray with speckle interiors. Learn something new every day!!

Thanks again!!

Glad to be of assistance. Post some pics of the complete kit if you get it.
