Rogers kit questions from a Ludwig guy Last viewed: 1 hour ago

markrocks68-you have the best drums ever made in the USA.Rogers 60`s drums are extrordinary sounding instruments.I`ve owned a set of these terrific drums since 1967 and still have them today. As Ploughman said...you learn to keep track of the key and one gets used to that after awhile, but a spare on hand wasn`t a bad idea either. After all...the key was the key to everything and so it did it`s job.

I agree. Who doesn't have a drum key with them on any gig? I never liked the big hex nuts on Ludwig mounts because it required carrying another tool in addition to a drum key. Swivo and knobby mounts only required a tool you already had in your pocket.

I have one on my key ring, in every trap case, stick bag, table of my drum room, dash, kitchen bar, I still have my first Ludwig key and hex wrench.

Very nice kit. Congratulations.

I would certainly prefer a drum key for everything (which one should always have regardless) as opposed to the awful hex bolt concept Ludwig had going on. You know what most people use on a hex bolt?? Pliers. Ugh.

Those guys who chewed up Rogers knobby key rods must have upgraded from Ludwig and kept the pliers in their trap case.

Yup, I have drums keys everywhere. On the keychain, in the cases, near the bed, etc.. ;)

Just finished cleaning the kit up & will post some pictures today.

But first, heading to north country for more drums!!

Here's a shot of the kit with my mint 59 Transition badge Ludwig Pioneer.

"near the bed"??? What type of locking mechanism, mount, or clamp near the bed would require a drum key??? Never mind, I don't want to know.
