If theyre beavertails and clevelands then theyre most likey 64-5, I couldnt make out the snare, is it bread&butter lugs?
Rogers Holiday (1960's) - Information inquiry
Here are the photos of the tags, Photo1 is the Floor Tom, Photo2 is the Bass Drum, Photo3 is the tom. Looks to be 5 ply. Thx again. T-
T,
First of all, very nice set of highly desirable Cleveland's you got there! I wouldn't be surprised if you're already receiving offers.
As far as the dating goes (a very inexact science when it comes to Rogers), the change from Bread & Butter lugs to Beavertails occurred at some point in 1963. I have been recording Holiday tags on factory-original Cleveland's and Dayton's in an attempt to pinpoint certain hardware changes (screws, washers, interior finish, lugs, hoops, etc), and the highest Holiday tag number I've seen with B&B lugs is 35327, and the lowest Holiday number I've seen with BT lugs is your tom... 36874, so I think it's fairly safe to say your drums are late 1963, maybe early '64. Now it's always possible that a B&B Cleveland Holiday could pop up with a 37000 tag (higher than your tom tag) as the tags were pull and applied at random.
Dan C might want to chime in to concur or dissent from my assessment here, but I think it's safe to say your drums were born in Covington in 1963.
Mike C.
Indeed, probably 1964...
Thx so much Gents, very much appreciate the info. Sound killer in the studio, now I know allot more about them. Thanks!

And powertone which was just snares took over holiday on toms and kick drums in 69 right? So in early 69 they were holidays and later in the yr powertone correct/

I agree with the dating of the Toms but I am very insecure about the Bass Drum. A Holiday Serial #7xxx should be before 1958 and would have B&B Lugs. Your Picture is quite small, the Beavertails on the Toms are evident. The BD looks like Beavertails, too. That doesn't match together....

Notice that is a TYPED "Holiday" tag, not a printed tag. Does your criteria still apply?

Blank labels that had a model name typed in had their own serial number range. Don't use that number to date this drum.
In any event, it looks like it was made at the same time as the other 2: all flat grey Cleveland beavertails...
Would any of you know the matching snare that went with my kit when originally sold. I would like to search for one but want to make sure I am searching for the right one. Many thx again. T-
Powertone in same color or COB, Dyna-Sonic in same color or COB, or even a Luxor, depends on how it was sold and the preference of the buyer.
