Rogers Holiday 16X16 BDP FT Last viewed: 30 seconds ago

I bought this floor tom today along with the other tom pictured. A pair of cheap Paiste hats, a couple bass spurs, a snare stand, a cowbell and a cymbal arm.

I was just wondering what the floor tom in this condition (missing bottom hoop, t-rods and the tone control) is worth - the wrap is in great condition, but there is a spot of glue or something, as you can see in the first pic, where it looks like something is missing.. I'm guessing it's from the 60's, but if you know a more specific year, let me know.

The other drum is just the shell with one hoop. If you can tell me what this drum might be, I'd appreciate it.

Like he said.

An internal Muffler for the Rogers would be about $20-30 on eFlay. Bottom hoop...well, you COULD get a vintage Rogers bottom hoop, but why spend $30 when you can get a generic which looks like it for about $15 ?

Try some GooGone or WD40 to remove the adhesive on the exterior...be patient, it'll take a couple of goes...don't scratch it off.

Take off the lugs and clean 'em up, along with the top hoop. Try to get the rust off the legs with some 000 steel wool, gently. If the leg mounts & t-rods are also rusted, dunk them in Dawn dish liquid for 2-3 days, that will remove most of the rust. Looks like one leg is a non-original round leg, while the other 2 are the Rogers hex legs.

Clean the exterior wrap with a household cleaner (I like Method Wipes), then spiff it up with a car vinyl cleaner and that'll add some nice sheen.

All put back together & puuuuurdy, probably worth about $80-90. In it's current condition, worth maybe $40-50.

That Leedy tom....what size is it ? If it's a 12 and you wanna sell it, PM me please, I have been looking for a 12.

What series are the Paiste hats, BTW ???

Thanks guys - just the info I was looking for.

The Leedy tom is 13X9 (actually about 12.75) I'm thinking about turning it into a snare. How difficult would it be to find a bottom hoop? Does such a thing exist?

The Paistes are 302s.

You are looking to buy a 'single-flange' snareside...drummaker.com has 'em...but the only thing is, the one you have looks like it may be nickel, while the generic available ones are gonna be chrome.

So, if you want a nickel, might have to go the eFlay route...although, a 13" nickel single flange snareside hoop...wow, I dunno...you may be looking for a very long time.

I'd just buy a chrome one...

Thanks again, Jaye.

Wow, single flanged hoops are expensive! What the hell? Maybe I'll just go triple on both sides. Would that cause alignment problems with the lugs?

Great eye, Jaye! I finally got around to taking the FT apart to begin the clean up. There is one leg that is not correct. And the glue on the wrap came off using Goo Gone - thanks for the tip.

The wrap is great. There are a couple of spots of veining (network of cracks under the wrap's clear coat) that are very subtle.

I also only have 5 original t-rods. I've got my eye on a few ebay auctions right now to completely finish this gal, though.

I'm kinda falling in love with this drum. How difficult and expensive would it be to complete a kit around this tom? Say, a Holiday BDP 22 or 20X14 bass and a 12X8 tom?

Not a bad proposition...BDP being a common color, not an ultra-special one like Pink Ripple or Onyx or such.

So, off the top of my head, if you have the patience to find the other 2 pieces, I am gonna guess a bass would run about $150-75 and a rack tom about $100...on eBay.

After seeing the parts I need to complete this drum go for outrageous amounts on da' bay (muffler for over $50, legs for over $80) I decided I couldn't justify funding it. So I cleaned it up and put it on ebay, as is. It is already over $200, with about 5 days left to the auction. Sheesh, what do these pull in when they're complete?

Looks like Jayes estimate was a little off.
