Rogers hardware on Camco Last viewed: 1 day ago

The Cangany book has another couple of inaccuracies about Camco. I suspect it was the brand he had the least hands on experience with.

The Rogers throws on the snares were simply because the hole pattern is exactly the same (or so close as to make no real difference) and the Rogers were a bit more reliable. The Camco strainers tended to spontaneously throw off if you did a rim-shot. There's a couple of modifications you can do to stop it but I guess a lot of people just didn't bother.

Must be the close proximity to Michigan. We don't get anything from Indiana down here that I know of...........except rental cars with Indiana plates. On Rogers hardware mounted to Camco drums, I'd estimate about 10% of Camco kits I've seen over the years had Rogers swivo mounts or, at least, a Rogers strainer on a snare. In the mid 60's we all wanted Rogers. For me it was soured when I saw a drummer at a gig who had lost his drum key (hand me the pliers). It sounded like the "tragic flaw" I had just learned about that plagued most ancient Greek theatrical heroes.

LOL oh yee of simple minds.. lol i never used a drum key on my swivo stuff i used a small 1/4 ratchet and a socket it was easier on the hand the drum key was a backup to the backup, and I always re dimpled the ends of my swivo studs and they always gripped well, when allowed to get dull they slipped, also a tension rod from a tom or whatever could be used if you lost one of the little rascals in hindsight it was very versatile....

Rogers Swivo hardware is some of the best built, most reliable mounts and parts you can find. Modern mounts that match the sturdiness are way bulkier than the Swivo stuff was/is. If it didn't mean ruining vintage kits, I'd put it on everything, no matter what company made the drums!

Too many great drums to list here!

I would be surprised if a company would offer to install a competitor's hardware. I do know there were a lot of virgin shells ordered from various companies to have other hardware installed by the store. Usually Rogers early on, later Pearl became a popular choice. That is why you see so many kits from that era with wrong hardware.
