In your first photo I can clearly see the outline of B&B lugs. Not the entire length of it, but definitely parts of it, on the edges of both lugs.Josh

Can anyone else see the outline that Josh is referring to?

The lug mark on the right is most obvious. It is between the yellow marks.

I had to reduce my image, so go back to the original image and look where I highlighted it.

I can see it now that I looked at the drum very closely.

You have great eyes. I used a magnifying glass.

The wrap is original... I see impressions of the B&B lugs.

What is this snare worth?

The original wrap definitely adds value to the drum...

Good job noticing the indents, Josh!!

I have had someone mention that it must be a 3ply shell.

It appears to be a 5 ply shell but it really can't be since Rogers did not transfer to Keller until 1964 and this shell is 60 years old. (based on stamp). see pics below of a cross view of the shell.

Since the drum had B&B lugs and has an Eagle Badge we have to accept the fact that it is a Rogers snare.

Therefore my old eyes must not be working correctly.. look at the closeup pics below and tell me is the is 3 ply plus RR

I think so. The shell is the shell and the re-ring is the re-ring. Gretsch and some others have no re-rings and ply shells, so to eliminate confusion when talking about this issue the shell plys are the focus.

So do you think this is 3 ply?

When I look at the cross view very closely from the top I cannot see where the plies end and the RR begins.

Ken, I restored some 1958 Rogers drums. They had three-ply shells with three-ply reinforcement rings. You’re good on the shells.

thank you for all your help.

I assume you saw the pictures.. I could not see where the shell ended and the RR began. Also, there is no grey primer on the bearing edges while on all my other Rogers the spray covered the whole inside of the shell.

Have you come across this before. i.e. the edges had no spray.

Do you have any idea what this snare is worth?
