Rogers Dynasonic Snare - Questions Last viewed: 13 seconds ago

Loading...

First off - good morning......

I participate in mostly guitar related forums - so please excuse my drum ignorance, I have very limited knowledge in regards to drum stull

anyway

I have a couple questions on a Rogers Dyna-sonic wood snare, I understand their rarity, I get that

first off - I was wondering about the year - I guess it's too difficult to pin-point that - am I correct?

wondering why the serial number AND the word "Cheyenne" is written inside?

any help is greatly appreciated - cheers

in addition to this - I also have a Rogers Blue oynx kit - i'll have to get some pics of - it's a project

HI Jonahboo Welcome to the forum. Could you please post your serial # you can do it like "10xxx" if you want but it will help dating your drum.

Currently my first set ever 1983 Pearl Export original owner. 2008 Grestch Catalina Maple, and a 1970 Star kit. Many snares including a big R Dynasonic.
Previous Rogers Holiday 12, 16, 20 and powertone snare.
Premier apk and Premier Cabria kits.

Your snare is either a 66-67 cleveland or dayton snare. I am no expert but I have owned a couple of rogers snares and sets. I don't know why Cheyenne is in there. Do your drum have a paper tag in it? If so what city does it states? Blue Onyx is also a good find I used to own a Red Onyx. If you can answer these question I am sure the experts will chime in soon.

I agree with Puremusic. Most likely1967 and that would be Dayton era. Name Cheyenne is a personal marking to identify it as belonging to that person in the event of theft. Note the quotation marks. Would not likely be a marking anyone in the factory would have done on the top of the line model or any other for that matter.

Nice drum, and welcome to VDF! Show off the blue onyx when you have a moment.

I'd say the serial number dates it to around a 1965 or closer to 1966. The interior isn't the early fruit wood stain color. It looks to be the proper clear coat. The still square head tension rods date to around there as well. I hope the inner name isn't the name of the drum worker, after it left the factory, that trued up the edges or even worse cut it for a snare bed. Reminds me too much like the NODAR inner markings found on some drums. Hopefully it was just the band name or like said above marked for theft concerns. Maybe that was the name of that drum given to it by the previous owner. Who names their gear?! umm..."Lucile"(guitar).

The bottom hoop and bridge needs to be on the opposite side. The soild gate on the hoop goes near the butt plate and the half moon gate goes near the throw off along with the snare bridge tension dial. Nice drum!

Hope this helps, Gary

What a nice snare! Yes pretty much the centerpiece for any Rogers collector. That drum will look sweet with a nice cleanup and detail. Source a drum key to remove, install and tune it. There's 2 fantastic articals here for Dynasonic setup.

yes - I will do a clean up = gently of course, I am currently cleaning the holiday kit....it's coming along nice

it's a 3 piece (w/ an extra tom - thus both toms are equal size)

I need a few pieces:

bottom hoops

Swivomatic arm to connect tom>>>bass drum

muffles

and have an extra cymbal>>>bass drum post
