Rogers Dyna help needed!!

Loading...

Hi there folks!

As you can see on my signature, only Ludwig drums have been passed trough my hands.

From a while, I have been interested in Rogers, but I´m not an "open book" precisely...

Right now, I´m in the middle of a deal, with a Dyna as a part of it (nano-pic here)

I need a kindly help from the "Rogers Guys" in order to identify and give some approach to a razonable valuation.

Thanks in advance!!!

The photo is "muy pequeña", but this looks to be a standard 70's 5 line Big R chrome-over-brass Dynasonic. These generally sell for between $200 and $350, but if you don't own one you might want to try it out before selling. Make sure that the snare frame, that hold the snares on is complete, as this is expensive to buy separately (often around $100 on *bay) and will not function properly without one (no snare beds).

These are very sensitive snare drums and very different from Acros or Supras, more similar to a Super Sensitive. I love mine!!! I hope this helps. I'm sure others will fill in the blanks. Buenas Suerte!

+1 on everything FunkyPoodle states. From examinging the inside of the snare gate in that tiny picture, it appears that there is no snare bridge/frame on this drum. Again, a Dynasonic must have this factory stock frame, otherwise the snares will never seat properly. The badge appears to date this as a 1980 Big R (the only year a serial number wasn't printed to the left of the "R"). I sold an identical 1980 Dyna on eBay a couple years ago (very good condition with no snare frame). Winning bid was $150, so that should give you an idea of market value. I wonder if it's the same drum.

Our members Ploughman and DanC are great Rogers experts and may add their opinions. I think every drummer should own a Supra and a Dyna. These two drums hold a solid place in snare history.

Thanks you fellas!

Original pics are pretty heavy and I can't be able to upload.

Snare are complete (including Rogers snare frame) and all original parts.

Very good condition indeed!!

As far I can see, It has no serial number...... Does it change everything??

I'd be very surprised if there was no serial. Can't see with that picture. You mean there isn't one on the foil badge?

Anyway; these are great drums. But I don't take my brass Dyna out that much because the snare sound is not my preferred one. Yes, a bit like a Super Sensitive. Hard to describe but it's a very dry sound and my style of playing doesn't completely suit the drum. Doesn't mean it can't be great; and I love the retro look of my 60's Dyna, but for live work if I want a metal snare I go for a Ludwig with a standard throw; like a Supra or a bronze 502. If you get a chance to buy a Dyna in good complete condition for a good price; I do recommend owning one though, for sure. Also I have gigged with the COB Powertone and really enjoyed it. Just lately seem to enjoy the wood shells more. Now if you ever see a wood Powertone at a fair price, just buy it! $00.02

You are looking at a 1980-81 Dyna-Sonic, judging by what I see is a lack of serial number on a real USA badge.

Knobs on throw off and dampener will be rivet top. Shell is still brass.

150 is too cheap really. The primary difference between a Fullerton era Oval Badge and a Big R amounts to a couple hundred dollars sometimes. Snobs are snobs. There is no functional or value difference.

Its a good drum.

It´s located here in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and it belongs to a former Jazz drummer and collector.

But anyway, I don´t know.... we live in a Global era, everything is possible!! LOL
