Rogers drum set value

From DownTownFarmer

You might be in luck with the rims as those look like S-hoops on there now. That might mean the rims were swapped for preference rather than just some of them being lost...if you're really lucky it could be the same deal on the bass drum hoops! Guy liked a lot of chrome.....? :)Mitch

I bought them for $400 but paid $150 for shipping. When the seller got the drums, the bottom heads and rims were gone. Each tom will have one original rim and one non original rim. He shipped them yesterday. I called him about the bass drum hoops and he does have one of them. I am going to have him ship that to me as well. So, it will have half original and half non original rims and tension rods on the toms. Same with the bass drum assuming he sends it.

Oh well it was nice to believe everything was there for awhile...:)

But like everyone says, missing rims or no, a great kit and you did well. Up here it woulda been $750.00 at least...

This story has a sad ending. The seller simply placed the drums in a box without any packaging materials. I knew it was bad when I picked up the box off of my porch and heard a bunch of rattling. He stacked the drums one inside the other and the floor tom and bass drum were pretty severely gouged and dented. The shipper used insurance but there was no way UPS would refund his monies when they saw how they were packaged. Since he was the only one protected (Craigslist purchase) I counted my losses and sold them to a local collector who will use them for parts etc. The seller agreed to refund me $100. He wanted me to ship them back to him (not on my dime) so he could try to get a refund and then give me the money. I just do not trust that process and frankly there is no way for me to guarantee that he will send me the money even if UPS refunds him. I ended up losing about $100. Lesson learned. No more Craigslist shipping purchases.

What a drag. Very sorry to hear that. If you click on "avoid fraud and scams" on the CL site, one of the warnings is - "Beware offers involving shipping - deal with locals you can meet in person."

I find this kind of odd, but I guess it's because CL does not offer buyer protection like ebay does...?

Anyway, that's really a shame it was a nice kit, before its "journey of gouges". :(

When I've shipped kits with insurance, they always opened the box to make sure it was packed correctly. It sounds like someone dropped the ball and you're having to pay the price. I could put up with a bent rod or a scratch on the drums, but gouges because of no packing material is ridiculous. I could even put up with breaking even, but taking a loss because of this idiot is not right.

Would there be any protection through paypal in this case? Sorry to hear how this turned out.
