Thank you Gary.Clapping Happy2
Rogers Broadway Snare
You are very welcome! Even on the 55 snare page there is one model still sporting that Union badge. If my memory is right it was for their mahog model named the Monitor. Used on some marching drums into the mid 50s as well. Simply put factory mentality using up old stock.
That last picture looks more like my snare, except the lugs. Why is the interior of your Broadway black, is that factory?
Yes factory interior that matches the black duco exterior finish. The black interiors were standard for Rogers before the gray interiors on other models as well in that era. Plenty of eagle badge drums with the same flat black interior. The gray paint came about around the same time of the intro to Swivo in 58.
Well, I didn't see a butt joint when I took the head off. Is this a mahogany shell?
If no butt joint on the exterior then there would be a lump like a pearl wrap on the exterior. There was no reference to shell construction in the old catalogs. Many arguments about the shell construction on these forums. I see light plies in the middle that aren't mahog. that make up your shell.
I also see from your pic that there are bolts with nuts sticking out into the interior of the shell. They only did that for a short time. The square cut out in the lug tabs are square to hold the bolt in place and not spin. Upon disassembly you will see this oddity. Not the usual screws going into the lug tabs. Upon re assembly putting back the nuts to place the lug back on you may have to pull gently and spin the bolts to catch the square tab. You will see upon working on this early bird. I'm tapped for tonight. Good eve.
Once again, thank you and I believe that about does it on this old, rare drum. Doesn't seem to spark much interest, even with the Rogers guys.
