rogers big R questions

Loading...

Hi forum..Have just bought a Rogers big R kit which i think is 78/79 ..and have a few questions about it. The kit looks original and seems to have the same shells as my old sixties script logo rogers kit, all the drums hve badges and serial no ..that are quite close but the 12 and 13 bass mounted toms are both left sided toms , if i put the 13 to the right where it is supposed to be the badge is the wrong way round at the back ..is this a foreign drum it doesn,t look foreign to all the other drums. Also i have no idea what the middle tom arm ( see pics) is supposed to hold ..any ideas? im also not sure if my dyna is cob , did they do a steel dyna/..

Hey Chris!...

I know Rogers COLD... but my knowledge stops at the Big "R" era/changeover... ( and that's just a personal preference ) ... with the exception of the Dynasonic snare drums. That said:

ALL Rogers Dynasonics up to and including the Big "R" era, are COB ( chrome over brass ) The only COS ( chrome over steel ) snare drum Rogers built was the SuperTen.

Ploughman is the guy for Big "R" info... he will probably be along shortly!

That was just the nature of the Big R badge placement. It wasnt very efficiently thought out.

The snare is a 1982 Dynasonic 8x14, just one of the Dynasonics I own.

I have a Powerstroke3 pinstripe for the BD batter. Good Deep sound. And yes, 24, 13, 16, 18
