I sympathize with you. I have done just enough of this kind of thing to know somewhat of what you are talking about. But let me ask, what is the seller name for these B-n-B repros? Can you pay with PayPal? My two sons and I have talked about buying some of these steel repros but I never get around to getting the order form printed, filled in and the money Order or check done. I will someday. But if they are on eBay and if I can pay with PayPal I would love to buy some repros and do a couple of snare drums. I need eighteen but would buy twenty if they are in ten lots for the doubles. I love the B-n-B drums and probably should get busy do a count and get everything playable. D' Drummer

I have ONE Rogers drum with B&B's and this is the way to go!! Expensive? You bet... but worth it! As I had stated previously: Quality costs! :-)

I have a '63 Rogers B&B kit in silver sparkle and it is one of the best sounding drum kits I've ever heard. It's not perfect as it has extra holes in the bass drum. I could barely keep this kit up and running as every 5 or so gigs I would end up with a lug or two exploding on me. I always had to have a stash of spare B&B lugs that all had cracks of varing degrees.

I ended up dumping $600 on Jim Petty's repro lugs. I still need to buy the lugs for the snare drums (2) and I'm waiting for the bass drum repro lugs. By the time I'm done I will have almost $3000 into this kit. I probably will never see a return on my investment in my lifetime but that's not why I bought them.

I can't put a price on tone and these drums have what I've been looking for in sound for a long time. They look almost dead on repros of the originals and they have allowed me to keep this kit in playing condition instead of sitting on a shelf. As someone else mentioned here, you get what you pay for as far as quality and these lugs are top quality IMO.

It will depend on why you want to restore it. He's right about them breaking. Hes also right about playing them. I personally, want originality. That cost $$. Square fl tom nuts ect. You may want to do something other than that. So not on my $2000+ Dyna, unless I had the originals and wanted to play it all the time.. But as far as the damage to lugs.. every drum sets damaged lugs will be different depending on the way they played it eg: heavy bass foot, snare tuning, stick size, heads, amount of play, just to name a few.

If I were you.... I would just ask myself... Self? If I were to buy this drum, what would I want... would these lugs be acceptable or would I rather have an all original item... is it for "show or go"? Right now originality rules in the market place {especially in a Rogers box}.. which may or may not increase in value in the future. I think they will increase..

The lugs you mentioned are reproduction, they arent made of COB {chrome over brass}, they are stamped steel and/or alloy of. These are shaped identicle to these lugs. The chrome may appear slightly darker becuase the plating process is sightly different than it is to brass.. All you get is a stamped, threaded casing, these may rust or pit... They cost more in some cases.. I believe 22 shipped {each}. That would be over 400 dollars!!! to do a 22" bass and offer none of the inner workings, So if you dont have inners like springs, felts, self alighning ferrels for the rods, You'll have to buy lugs anyway. JP offers 1 size, in 2 forms that I know of at this time.. snare sized... by request, 1 hole. Im glad that Dolfan is someone who purchased these lugs and has experience these 1st hand..

I stock original lugs so I can replace them if needed. But if I wanted to have a players set today, money isnt an option or originality, I would buy them.. You'd be surprised at what I would do to play Rogers drums...

Not sure i would have 3 grand into any old kit,but i do understand your passsion for Rogers drums.Next to Sonor,Rogers were untouchable.

I have one Rogers kit versus 2 George Way kits and 3 Camco kits. You don't want to even know how much I had to pay for the George Way kits.

Im almost done restoring my 1962 9 piece Rogers Blue sparkle pearl set. I ask this forums members, if anyone has some uncracked lugs, dont hesistate to contact me. I need the 1 5/8" hole spacing c2c or med/ snare sized the most, but will take any. I wanna play it. I will also post pics of it in this forum when Im done. Thanx in advance
