Rodgers Wood Dynosonic

Yes, a 10 ply, Keller shell made in Fullerton California. Black felt under the lugs. There was a short period of time (about six months) in 1981 when some shell and hardware subassembly work was done in San Luis, Mexico. Production and final assembly NEVER left Cal. ALL of this could have been discussed and cleared up THROUGH E-MAIL. I put this drum up on this site so someone who wants it and can appreciate it could get a hold of it, otherwise it's not a very desirable drum because of the depth.

The drum is American, it's "real", and it sounds fantastic. I've got my facts CRYSTAL clear. If you want it you can feel free to make an offer (or e-mail me). If you don't want the thing, just don't post.

Give Pants a break! I know him, the shop he works in, and have seen the Dyna. The drum is the real deal and quite nice. The finish is a bit checked but overall a pretty hard drum to find. The shop its in has one of the most respected owners in town. If anyone has any question about the drums authenticity Email me or talk to me this wekend in Chicago. J.S.

I dont think authenticity is the issue, nearly as much as the attitude. I would love to have the drum. All I wanted was a price. Its all I asked for. Not special pictures, no phone calls. Just a price, so that I would know if this was something I even wanted to get involved in. All Ive gotten was attitude.

The attitude is entirely out of place in a business deal. I havent been unreasonable, I have deleted a couple of my own posts because they probably pushed too far. So why the attitude?

74-77 on an 82-83 drum is not crystal clear.

An incorrect top hoop on a Rogers drum, which you had no clue about, is not crystal clear.

Rodgers instead of Rogers is not crystal clear.

Dynosonic is not crystal clear.

And all I get is a butt load of attitude from someone who has no idea what this drum even is? But no price.

I have 14 snare drums currently, eleven are Rogers, seven are Dynasonics(including a seven line COB and one of the first five line shells), three are Powertones, one is a SuperTen. I have six sets, five are Rogers, two are mid 60s +9/10 collector quality. A 1977 set I have owned for 28 years. An XP8 set that was rebuilt in green glitter with Cleveland mounts. Buying another Rogers drum isnt even a stretch for me. Seriously its not like I wouldnt.

...and which shop would that be J?? Just curious as I am in Detroit and can not sing praises of many shops in the area when it comes to vintage stock. A few exceptional private dealers though.

Being fair to the forum... Pants did list it as "Rodgers Dynosonic" multiple times in post, and was off on the initial production year. If I were selling something and spelled it "Ludweg Downbeet?" I would expect someone to have concerns with the knowledge of my offering. What is with the secrecy, and weird vibe about this one? One should be boastful about having such a sweet drum for sale! The drum is at Percussion World in Ferndale. No they do not have an inventory of Vintage stuff. But the new owner is a straight shooter. Pants made some serious mistakes describing the snare. Like I said give him a break he's new to this sort of thing. He likes Slingerland Drums and is not that knowledgeable about Rogers. I know all the crap that goes on in the vintage drum world and I understand Ploughmans skepticism. Pants do us all a favor and tell the world the price. I hate replying to this and defending your dumb ass.

Thanks J! Yes that is a good shop. They actually had a small inventory of a few nice vintage kits and snares back in 94' before the vintage drum market went balistic. It was that period when shop owners were like "Hey...people are buying this stuff? Let me get it out of the attic" Unfortunately I had just bought a kit from Ned.

We also can't forget the classic "Dill Weed" Eye Ball . I'm sure we all have been called much worse then the above and they are just gentle terms!

This thread brings up a few good topics, but on a side note when in my younger days I was called an A_s- Hole, I could always come back with "Better an A_s-hole then a whole-a_s like yourself!!DOH"

We also know why there are no donkeys in college? Because nobody likes a smart-a_s!

Back to the good topics....

I had the hardest time early on in the selling area to state a price for something. I was usually afraid it was higher or even lower then what the item was worth. Part of it was just not knowing and having the knowledge to finalize the actual price.

I have backed out of things, at the final moment and or just got cold feet etc...

As we get older and more seasoned we can just say the price and be happy with the final outcome.

I try to stop the hem and haw pricing and just tell people directly.
