It may be a great place to see drums looking up at them, its just not my kind of place. At least in a ***ellery store they let you hold the Rolex, even if you cant afford it.
Rockin Robin's Last viewed: 1 day ago
RR is by far the coolest place in houston. if anyone ever gets a chance to visit houston make a stop there. after you pick up your jaw from floor and say to yourself wow thats pretty cool you will want to be vintage drum guru.
i heard of this place from my good friend, who i bought my ludwig bowling ball set from. my buddy collects old vintage guitars and used to own a place called hights guitar's and dan electros guitar bar. when i bought my first snare i figured he has old stuff and i think he could help me. he refered me to Rockin Robins...and ever sence then...old drums it is. the damn place has so many drums you can barely walk. its like a ray of sunshineflowers2
I love that place! Some of those drums (specifically the snares up on the high, high shelves in the snare drum/hardware room) are not for sale, but just about everything else is. That doesnt stop me from staring up at those snares and dreaming :). It would be nice to meet you guys up there one weekend - Im only a few miles away in the Heights part of town.
No Kidding James, Small world. We will definately have to meet up. Larry and I both happen to live in NW. Larry's in Cypress and I'm at 1960. We actually ended up at Rockin Robin just to kill time on Saturday. we originally went to CymbalFusion to check out the store, but at 11:00 they still weren't open, so I said to Larry, let's drive over to Rockin Robin's and check it out.
It might be just me,but i dont appreciate drums that are in a showroom, but out of reach and sight. It sends a message to me that im not to be trusted in the proximity of them.I,d feel more comfortable being able to see up close and pick one up,supervised if neccessary. They can be in a glass case, thats ok,but out of reach i find insultingCoffee Break2
Wayne, It doesn't bother me. I don't think you should feel that the placement of those drums is directed at you, Probably just for insurance purposes or just out of necessity. I'm sure if you asked to look at one, they probably wouldn't mind. That place is not a big building, so space is at a premium
Rockin Robin is like my second home, you guys wonder where I get so many different kits, well that's the place. I know Bart very well, he's made me some great deals, but only if you have something he wants. I'll be in Houston tomorrow, I'll tell them hello for you guys.Jump For Joy
And people were acting as if you were stealing...pshhhh
Let me know if you ever want to trade for a pre-serial red sparkle Ludwig hollywood
