RK Questions

As a pretty much dyed in the wool Slingerland guy I'm not sure of a couple of things, and a little embarassesd that I don't know these DOH .

But smart enough to know where to go to find out.

First, in the 60's when Slingerland came back with the Radio King snare, what was the off the shelf policy as it related to the hoops that they used?

Where they stock with the triple flange hoops and did you have to specify the stick chopper double flanges when ordering?

My understanding is that the 60's-70's snares where not engraved either until the reissue in 1979.

And the second one as to strainers. Did they ever sell in the 60's & early 70's RK's with Zoomatic's? My understanding is that they didn't, mostly due to the fact that it was that RK strainer that made it a Radio King regardless of the whether the shell was a plied shell or a solid shell.

Thanks, I'll start my stopwatch..............Coffee Break2

Thanks, just to clarify when you say say Slingerlands never came with triple flange hoops do you mean Radio Kings never came with triple flanges?

Because everything was triple flanged after a certain date wasn't it?

Slingerland came up with and patented the triple flange stick saver I thought in 55', although it went inward where the others went outward.

I'm not sure however if the difference was only the direction of the third flange heading inward that made it different in terms of its patentability at the time of application.

The RK's I have seen either have the clam shell strainer or the 3 point strainer
