Hey jaghog, is this what you are talking about? (Scroll down to the last item on this page)

If so, you can still order one.

I have many riveyed cymbals and I agree with all of you, you just can't get the smoothness and natural sustain with any other device besides drilling. The reason is, anything you lay on the cymbal (like a Pro-Mark Rattler) dampens the cymbal, because it's laying on top of it. Drilled rivets "dance" with the cymbal and don't way it down too much.

I have had decent success using a small beaded chain (like the kind you would use as a pull chain for a light fixture or ceiling fan) on the cymbal. I have one that I keep lying around to see what a cymbal would sound like with rivets (to decide if I want to drill or not). It's also handy when you go cymbal shopping to throw in your pocket. I typically get about 22" to 24" length of chain at a hardware store, then connect it to itself end to end with a connector, so it looks like a necklace. I then just drape the chain around the wingnut/top felt of the stand, and it goes all the way to the edge to a 22" or 24" cymbal, and hangs over on smaller cymbals. This gives a pretty relasitic sound, but without weighing the cymbal down a whole lot because of the small, light chain. This should cost you all of 50 cents at your local hardware store. And it also doubles as a cool necklace, Ha ha!
