Three cheers for Biff Adams...Clapping Happy2
Yeah we've all getting a little long in the tooth (a country saying) but that's the way of it rip MH
" And I turned 21 in Prison doing life without parole. No one could steer me right but Mama Tried, Mama Tried. Mama Tried to raise me better, but her pleading I denied. That Leaves only me to blame cause Mama Tried"
Back in the 80's my Dad had Merle this song actually on a mixed tape in the car. And we listen to it any time we went north to the cottage.
RIP Merle
One of my Hero's A sad day Country music is no more.
Silver Wings/Mama Tried/Working Man Blues/I'm A Lonesome Fugitive/ Oakie From Muskogee. Played them hundreds of times in cinder block dives, strip mall bars, county fairs and country club dances all through the 70's. As a drummer who was raised on rock, pop and blues, I became a better musician by learning to play country music.

Roy Clark is still alive. Not playing much if at all these days unfortunately.
We still have two female giants still at it: Dolly Parton and the great Loretta Lynn.
Several years ago, I took a job playing with a country band at a sleazy bar in Niagara Falls, Ontario. Fights. Drunken loud-mouths. Beer bottles flying. I'm sure you know what I'm talking about. The gig lasted the entire winter and into spring.I didn't even like country music at the time but, the money was good. Strange thing. After several months, I began to appreciate the entire message.Honest lyrics. Simple beat. Genuine feeling. I'm glad I had that experience. I learned that a musician can grow from exposure to different types of music. Sure, I'm still a rock'n'roll guy but, country is still in my heart due to wonderful musicians like M.H. He was honest. He was real. He was very cool.
