RIP Ed Shaughnessy

Just saw this! Here's a good link from the L.A. Times... http://www.latimes.com/news/obituaries/la-me-ed-shaughnessy-20130526,0,6466298.story

Ed was a truly phenomenal drummer and gentleman... and one of Buddy's favorite drummers!

Ed was truly loved by all and will be missed.

RIP Ed.

Like my drum teacher, Phil Stanger, Ed too was a student of the "Dean of Drums", Roy C Knapp.

As well as many other greats, too many to list, Like Bellson, Krupa, Bobby Rosengarden, Bobby Christian, Baby Dodds, Ben Pollack, Jake Jerger, etc etc, they all passed by Roy at some point in time.

I'll always feel very thankful, and gifted, that I knew, and met Mr R. Knapp in my life as well, as he was the man who judged me for my NARD Test in July '68 at Frank's Drum Shop-Chicago.

Ed was truly one of the small list of the best of the best. He will surely be missed, but never forgotten.

Just ran across this vid. Would really like to know what they are saying to each other at the end.

One up two downs. Enjoy:
