Ringo Starr Super Classic Beatles Drums on display in NYC right now!

Thanks to Gary Astridge and Russ Lease for the pictures and info. I hope it is cool that I quoted you guys from the Beatgear Cavern forum, just wanted to spread this around. How cool is this, guys?! THE Pepper Toms and Shea Stadium bass drum!!!! Original Heads!!! Except for the Beatles front skin. This is located at the Bloomingdales store in NYC.

"The display is actually a mix of both original 22" kits. The bass drum is from kit #4 (Shea '65) and the floor and rack toms are from kit #3 (64 & 66 tour).

I was asked to create the drumhead. Since the bass drum was from kit #4, the '65 U.S. Tour head (head #5) was chosen to be represented on the front."- Russ Lease

"Though never documented, this never before seen snare drum has had plenty of use. What I was surprised to discover (and this is a first) is that this snare drum came with Ringo's Sullivan kit. And here's ANOTHER first; Ringo had a 3rd OBP snare drum.

All four drums, the bass drum pedal and (obviously) the case are Ringo's. Russ provided the awesome drum head and I supplied the rest. I was lucky enough to have an original OBP 22" bass drum hoop to provide since the original was lost or stolen.

One more important piece of Ringo drum history: Inside of the 9x13 tom is the business card of a Drum City employee named Dave Golding. The card was held in place under one of the Rogers tom mount washers. This leads me to believe that Drum City installed the Swiv-o-matic mounting brackets on the drums instead of Mal Evans, which was always the assumption." - Gary Astridge

Premier throne.....

If it's Ringo's actual throne, he probably didn't trade it in with his previous kit. ;)

Wow thats wicked cool. How long are they going to be there? I'd love to get to the city and see them. Even though my wife could do some serious damage shopping at Bloomie's. :o it's worth the risk.

Glenn.
