Ringo Kit on CL

Forgetting the price which is too high I think even if it is all original. Is that mount on the Bass drum correct? I haven't been looking at these for all that long but all the kits I have seen have the rail mounted higher on the bass drum.

On the tom mount yes that's to low on the bass drum,it should be centered to the top lug of the bass drum..Oh the color looks Blue to me not Black. At 3,000.00 for the set is high to me.I know of this seller all i will say is that me and other vintage drum dealer's will not deal with them....Mikey

Asking price is way too high! Configuration is not really ideal. I prefer 20, 12, 14 and 22, 13, 16 Ludwig kits. As to the rail mount, yes, it is too low. It appears that the upper saddle is mounted where the lower holes are. Maybe there are two extra holes at the top? Something to think about. In any event, this seller will be sitting on this kit for the asking price.

I just bought a Ringo kit in BDP - which according to the seller, was Ringo's first choice, but they were out of that wrap at the time. If I ever meet him, I'll ask him. In any case, I paid too much for it at $1700 shipped, but it really was in stellar shape, and was by far the best of the lot on eBay at the time. But I digress...

The rail mount looks off to me too. I can't imagine why anyone would move it. Maybe this one slipped through quality control? Just ask the seller if there are any extra holes in the bass drum.

Oh I am not considering buying this kit. Just learning. I just picked up a similar Blue Oyster Pearl Kit that I am "sort of" configuring as a Ringo Kit so I am end up looking closely at all these on ebay and CL.

The thing that is confounding me right now is how in the hell I am ever going to get my hands on a Blue Oyster Pearl jazz Festival in good condition without morgaging my children.

I was pretty sure this one was ridiculously overpriced. I picked up mine for $1,200 22, 13, 14. The 22 and 13 are from the same kit and the 14 floor tom is obviously an orphan. If the correct 22 and 12 come up one day I may pick it up and sell the 22 and 13 but I am far more concerned about just finding a snare at this stage.

Probably best just to go with a Supra and not risk losing the kids in a morgagee sale:o

Well I am in second place in my fantasy baseball league which will be worth about $1,500. If I just keep up on my team and keep 'em in second place I'll at least have a down payment on one.

Funny Post

Attached are pictures of my 1966 Super Classic outfit in Oyster Blue, complete with Supraphonic 400. I purchased this kit in the 80's from Drum City in Hollywood, CA, for $600! You can see my friend, Ken, sitting at the kit in the first picture. The second picture shows yours truly (man, was I thinner and had more hair back then!) at the kit, with a matching Jazz Festival that I built!

I had found an ad in Modern Drummer for maple shells, available from Frank's Drum Shop, I believe in New York? While checking out all the cool items at Drum City, I found a parts bin. Guess what was in it? A complete piece of Oyster Blue to cover a snare drum! The only MINOR issue was that it was wrapped around a piece of Oyster Pink and some of the pinkish hue had transferred to the blue! There was no way I would have even considered getting that "girly" piece of Oyster Pink! Where's that crystal ball when you need it? LoLoLoLo Anyway, that Jazz Festival was the first drum I ever built by myself. It was great... and I didn't have to trade in my girlfriend or anything! You sure could get good deals back before the internet!
