rewrap or not in generall

Actually, thinking about it, there is no drum at all that I would never recommend refinishing, if the circumstances were right. Maybe you have an Oaklawn bop kit but the finish has fire damage or something drastic. There's always a scenario in which it would be better to refinish. It all depends on the quality, and more so the rarity, of the drums.

Those needed re-wrapped for sure!

But you know there are folks on this forum who will tell him to keep them original!

Yes for sure, thats why sometime asking questions like this is hard because you have so many opinions. My opinion of that blue Rogers kit is to re-wrap, when wrap is cracked and falling off the shell its over dude. But if someone wants to keep it and save it then more power to him, as long as its not mine I dont care. I had a Rogers kit with wrap falling off and wrapped with KOA veneer, that kit turned out to be a real hit. That was a Big R XP8 kit so if you had something very rare then yes re-wrapping would be the last thing to consider.

Thank you!

Unless the wrap is badly cracked, it can almost always be cleaned, polished and treated to look almost like new. If it's a rare finish, this would be the way to go... Bad, visible cracks or severe warping is a lot harder to do anything about.

As mentioned before, it depends on the rarity of the kit, the rarity of the finish on that kit, and how bad it really is.

In the end though, It's up to you... They're your drums and you should be happy with them.

I am one of the exceptions. Cracks in wrap or some missing chunks would not bother me a bit. I'd do my best to fix and repair what was left. It's all subjective. What WE like to see and voice opinions on will always differ. I used to be quite the opposite. I liked things shiny and new. But as I got older it was not as important. Tastes can change.

If I were setting it in a show window at a museum or collecting it, I wouldn`t touch the wrap.

If I planed on using it for the next ten years, I`d wrap or veneer it again.

It`s a drum,.....Hit It !!

If the whole kit is like that it will be very easy to clean and buff up to be a really nice looking kit.
