Restoring Vistalite Shells with stuff found at the auto parts store...

Loading...

I couldn't believe how well it works... but it indeed does work great. I've been restoring some vistalites, and the deepest scratches have been a real bear to get out... I've had one shell get burned from heat build up.. and some just never seem to get where I need them to be. So today I stopped at the auto parts store and looked at what they had for restoring transparent plastics.. (Motorcycle windshields, headlights)... I found the Meguires kit earlier, and it works to polish.. sucks at scratches. 3M makes a kit that has sanding discs and stuff in it... Man, that can get to the bottom of a scratch in no time... Just be prepared to follow up with the meguires compound and be patient.. especially on the Smoke or Black drums... just like a car, they show EVERY mark. The longer I work on these things, the better I'm getting. I'm going to have a 35 year old drum set that looks to be 3-4 years old when I'm done.

Rockin' good news !!!

Looking forward to the pics... did you take any "before" shots......

(Putting before shots next to after shots makes you look like a freakin' genius....)

Who said that around here in spring of '09 ??

Can't remember, anyway I just credited "whoever" with saying it first...

Some of the spatters that you see are polishing compound that has flicked its way over on the shells.... The whole thing is coated with Nicotine.. Hooray.
