So after many years of using my little Stewart kick drum which has served me well for pub gigs, the time has come to give it a full makeover. The original blue onyx/agate finish is bubbled, scratched, and has extra holes from previous spur mounting attempts.. I was thinking of rewrapping with some vinyl glitter fabric, as i seen some forum members do this with really nice results, only i can't seem to find any place that sells it locally, and i don't want to purchase online without seeing the fabric in person.. So it looks like i might have to do a paint job. So now i have a few questions for those members who have done this with success.

1- Did you primer after sanding, or paint right after ?

2- How many coats of primer and /or paint to fully and properly cover the drum ?

3- I would like to have a satin lacquered look, kinda like what C&C drums has done with some of their finishes, and was wondering if it can be done properly because of the wood grain ?

4- If it is possible, would this difficult to do ?

Btw, if any Canadian members know of any fabric places close to my area, or what type to look for,

i'd greatly appreciate any and all info .
