Restoring Slingerland duco paint

These are all amazing insights! Thanks! The DIY Duco techniques is something I will try in a near futur, for sure...I finally chose to keep the paint as is and just add a few coats of lacquer (+wet sand). I fixed the interior shell with some glue in the spots where the reinforcement rings were starting to come loose. Now it sings again!I'm happy with the result! Next time, I'll try to repaint it in duco, but I'll have to practice on a cheaper shell before...

A total disassemble and re-assemble usually makes a drum sing again. Were the wires original ?

OddBall: I don't think the wires are original. But, since I don't know how to identify them, I just kept them in a box and put some new PureSound on - the snare sound great now. The wires needed some love too, but I'll have to find more details about it before trying to put them back. If any one of you guys have some infos about these wires (see pics in the thread), I'm more than interested!

The catalog says it comes with 12 snappy wires,....I see 12 snappy wires in your pic. Hang on to them until one of the slingy guys here can confirm it.
