Restoring Ringo Drums yee haw!!!!

Loading...

LOL I am fixin to start restorin' my so called Ringo Drums.

My dearly departed friend, Cliff Dillard, had this ludwig kit. He always claimed it was origanally Ringo's drums. lol He died a few yrs ago and left the ringo drums to his son. Eventually, I bought the drums from the son. They have been in my closet, along with my sonor teardrops, my brother gave me, for a number of years. My g/f suggested I set one up in the livin room, sooooooooooooooo, I just finished restoring my early 60's teardrop Sonors and finished my 1960 Student Radio King snare, and am waiting on parts for my 66 luddy marching snare and olive badge acrolite, as well as my 60's sonor cymbal stand. sooooooooooo, here goes! I am going to use this thread to document the restoration of my 2nd full kit restoration, 1st up is my 12" tom tom

PS I hope these are as well built as the sonors.

That's cool. Will it be mostly cosmetic or are there wrap/structural problems ?

Just about all cosmetic, polishing and shining. The bass drum claws have missing chrome, the rims have a lil surface rust, but you know how it is when you get started. Im sure there will be a search for some part or another. I have already scored some correct claws. I havent really started, except I have the tom toms on the table. I have the mind racking decision of which heads to put on them too! lol
