Restored Unknown Drum kit?

Loading...

Just finished restoring a old kit that I found at a estate sale. The lugs are something that I have not seen before. No visual brand markings. Appears to be nice quality, and the bearing edges were 45 with a slight roll. 10 ply with walnut on the outer and inner. No vent holes. Still no Luck Identifying. Any clues? If I could just figure out the lugs I would be happy. 1 1/2 center to center.:

My guess is that it's a custom made kit from the 90s.

The absence of vent holes is intriguing.

How does it sound?

The lugs look like some older MIJ to me.

To my disbelief it sounds amazing. Very tight punchy sound. I may have to experiment with some vent less shells myself on my next build. I never have tested the theory. So why not lol.

I keep trying to upload the before pics but it won't upload. I will work on it and get them up. It was in really rough shape. I build and restore drums for a living and I must say this was on of the roughest ones to bring back to life yet. Although customers keep me on my toes.LoLoLoLo

Why yes it is. They are my new #1 go to supplier, Best service I have had, and any options I want or can think of. Not to mention the quality. Working on another kit now that will be sure to amaze. I was very apprehensive at first, but they proved themselves to me.

Wow, their online samples don't compare to what it looks like, full size, on a kit. Very nice!

May I ask whether you used glue or tape, or a combination of the two?

I always use glue unless the customer is wrapping them to protect the original finish. Then its just tape with the wrap adhering to itself, Which works great. These were in fact glued.
